Who We Are
Myrtle Beach Animal Hospital is a privately owned veterinary clinic caring for dogs, cats, avians, exotics, and pocket pets in the Myrtle Beach, SC area. Our goal is to provide the highest quality of medicine tailored to your pet's needs. At Myrtle Beach Animal Hospital, your pet is not just a number. We care for each pet as if they were our own, and provide a high level of attention and quality care to each animal. We work hard to help educate and inform pet parents so that we can work together as partners to provide personalized care to each individual pet.
New Ownership and New Medical Leadership
Dr. Mike Kaltsas and his wife Nicole both bought Myrtle Beach Animal hospital in June 2025. They come with 20 years of veterinary experience. They originated from Maine and decided to transition to the warmer climate of the beach. They sold their clinic of 15 years and decided to start new roots here. They have updated the practice building to provide their clients and staff with a warm and inviting space that feels like a home, rather than a doctor’s office.
Dr. Mike comes with a core philosophy of creating a family-like atmosphere and ensuring clients never feel like a number. He wants to make sure clients are informed and feel comfortable working together as a team for the betterment of their pet.
His special interests include soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, exotic surgery and medicine, and preventative/geriatric care. He taught internal medicine for several years and enjoys teaching interns and staff the world of veterinary medicine. His favorite veterinary quote to interns is “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.”
When Dr. Mike is not working he enjoys fly fishing, brewing his own beer, hiking, kayaking, and most especially enjoying his family of all girls- minus one single male dog named Henry, the French Bulldog he never knew he needed in his life.
